Youth Checking Account

If your child is 14 and older, they can open our special account for teens. A parent or legal guardian needs to be on the account as a joint owner. It's an excellent way for your child to start learning about personal finances. Then when they turn 18, the account will roll over into a regular Free Checking Account, and you don't need to co-sign any longer.

Your child can also open a savings account to help them achieve their savings goals.

Your child can access all the same account benefits as adults, but you're able to set restrictions on certain transactions if you prefer. Kids can easily learn about money with a teen checking account and enjoy these features:

• Free eStatements so you can both check their monthly transactions and account balance
• Free Card Manager App to set up alerts, restrictions, travel notifications, and more
• Many Digital Banking Services are free of charge, like transferring money between accounts
• Access to thousands of in-network ATMs

Note that some standard banking account fees may apply, like if a check is returned unpaid. You may also need to pay an overdraft fee if you don't choose to set up a savings account for automatic, free overdraft transfers. You can see our terms and conditions for full details.

Every time your child uses their VISA Debit Card to make a purchase with their signature, Radiant Credit Union automatically pays 5 cents into your Youth Account.

• We will automatically deposit nickels into your Youth Checking Account each business day.
• Account holders don't need to sign up – enrollment is automatic when you open an account.
• There's no minimum purchase amount.

To deposit a check using your phone, simply open the Radiant Mobile App and follow these steps:

• Choose deposits
• Select the account for the check funds to enter
• Enter the amount of the check
• Take a picture of the front and back (endorsed) of the check
• Press submit

As a digital native, your child will likely love Digital Wallet! It's a service that lets you easily pay for things online or in-store using your phone, tablet, smartwatch, or another device. To get started, choose your preferred mobile payment service, then enter your debit card or credit card details, or scan your card.

Once you've verified your card, you can use your Digital Wallet instead of carrying around your physical wallet. It's fast and secure.
